I totally agree that those who enter with low grades in spm cert are the pests. LOW GRADES in SPM. how much your parents bribe or buy you a seat?

Anonymous said...

Apparently, there are two obvious groups of students in Aimst. One adapt positively to the learning environment and thrives, while the other is simply unable to cope with the academic demands of MBBS.

The later group are actually poor performers with low SPM grades but manage to enter through the back door. Some didn't pass the foundation and got rejected in the process. These people are now the trouble makers, bad mouthing the U. They would expect the U to hand them the certificates even though they had failed. Now, they know their fathers' money can't buy them the certificates.

While those lucky ones (SPM-foundation) that manage to get into MBBS programme, a number of them can't cope with the course demand. So, they blame the faculty members and so on using vulgar words and are very emotional. These students will not do well in studies. More sadly, they will carry that bad attitude of complaint and trouble making to their working life. And will blame their CEO, supervisors and company or employer. They are not going to be productive and will be under-performers. Unless they learn fast to cast off their negative attitude in life and start to learn to be responsible adults, they are doomed.

That is why 1 in 5 HOs quit, from doctor to waitress. If you don't have the mental (IQ) and emotional capacity (EQ), don't take up MBBS. Try something else, you will end up a happier person.

Ha..ha!!! Firstly...clean the crap(ie the unqualified so called 'VC' frm india who posses qualification equivalent to malaysian STPM) and med school dean who possess a crap mbbs degree frm capitation fee college frm india) in aimst bfore advising others!!

Anonymous said...

Ha...ha!! Any which way.. aimst SUCKS!! Big time!!

Anonymous said...

Rumours is that aimst will end up like AUÇMS!! bcos of the court case( mic vs ROS). Thats why management employing unqualified people frm india cos they are dirt cheap!! but...i pity the students who paid so much money to be taught by morons ie..the crap of india..!!

Anonymous said...

so, those morons spm under-achievers are still bitter. Aimst turning to be like AUCMS? ha, ha, ha...wait till go senile my friend.

all the issue raised are the same, getting bored. this n that fellow not qualified, what a joke, what lies...I like that reply better that get your father be the VC then. I also add let your mother be the Dean, your grand mother be Chancellor and the rest you can complete the list. surely, this time you are fully satisfied.

But the only problem is you only have spm low grades cert. Never mind, your father can fried mee with 30 yrs experience under his sleeve. so cook up some more tales, moron.

Anonymous said...

many are emotionally unstable due to their inability to cope with the academic demands of mbbs. so, they are very bitter about it. shamefully, these losers are trying to take it out on the faculty instead.you should not be in this course in the first place, cos you are not qualified with that lowly rated spm!

Anonymous said...

sucks or not, we are enjoying our studies here. eagerly waiting for our mbbs, yohoooooooooooooooo

Anonymous said...

I wonder if the students can think, or do they have the analytic mind set to look at issues. wow, wow, my friends, MIC's case with ROS has nothing to do with Aimst.

Here are some examples for you to mull, Gerakan got wiped out in Penang during GE13: did WOU closed down? MCA leadership tussle: did TAR-UC and UTAR closed down? UMNO deregistered by ROS: did ITM wiped out? IMC de-recognised Manipal: did MMMU closed down?

Use your brain to think, your mouth to eat and talk, but your ass to defecate and fart.

Instead many prefer to use their knees to think, their mouths to defecate and fart (with such foul and vulgarity in this blog) and their asses to eat (complain about bad food; there is no taste bud in your ass, try eat with mouth).

Do that make sense now?

Anonymous said...

Ha..ha!! Aimst really SUCKS!! BIG TIME!! Mic will stop payment soon to aimst just to get samyvellu out of aimst!!! Time wil tell...jus wait and see..!! On the other hand...u must b a real desperate schedule caste indian to b still eating our money!!! Ha..ha!! cheap skates!! Crap and rejects frm india!! Ha..ha!!

Anonymous said...

Bfore deciding..just scrutinize the aimst lecturers staffs edu qualification first and check wit JPA if the lecturers hav recognised qualifications or not...JPA has a list of indian mbbs degrees and universities that are recognised by our govt...jus check if any of aimst lecturers possess the required relevant qualifications recognised by our govt.
its no use being taught by underqualified lecturers who has unrecognised degrees despite paying a hefty sum of money!! Guys..think b for doing anything.!! According to JPA..NON of science phd or degrees are recognised by our country!! So..just look bfor u leap...don fall into the crap of a university!!

Anonymous said...

Such fools, JPA recog is only required for govt posts including PhD qualification.

the main criteria is MMC recognition. meaning only MMC decides the course/qualification be good enough for registration. And only those with MMC registration are allowed to work in hospitals. So don't check with JPA, go visit the MMC site and read the Medical Act. If your degree is listed under the schedule, you are ok. The U is OK.

Fools, don't you know that before you enter a university? how do you all decides to join a uni?

Anonymous said...

yeah, if you are taking a non-licensed course, MQA recognition (also by JPA)is good enough to join govt service. All professionals are subjected to their respective pro-body.

Private institutions need no such nonsense. they are free to hire whoever has the qualifications that are deemed proper. not necessarily by JPA.

Anonymous said...

When the blind leads the blind, both ended up in a sewage drain. private unis are not govt run, hence have a free hand to hire and fire.

I have read through Aimst webpage. The academic staff are indeed qualified with MBBS,MSc and PhD including many professional memberships like MRCP, FRCP etc. Those qualifications are proper for academic purpose so long as they are not doing clinical work. Clinical work will require licensing from MMC. Good news! The qualifications are in order my friends.

Anonymous said...

我觉得有些学生耻辱自己。如果他们不知道,问和学习。不要自义。这可能会导致自我毁灭。

Anonymous said...

here is a short section of the full list of qualifications of the staff in Aimst. Unlike some other U, they don't even dare to list their staff and qualification!

This is what I found out. Rajesh got an MBBS degree and MD doctorate degree in medicine plus an MBA.
All the others too are good and well qualified with papers from bona fide institutions recognised by the prof bodies of the countries accordingly. What is so unholy my friend?

Aimst is OK fellow students, I certainly would recommend it to those who are qualified to read MBBS.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, i take it and things are sinking in now.

Aimst is OK and the staff are OK.

The LOSERS are.... those maladjusted to campus culture and anti-establishment individuals.

BITTER are those who failed without a foundation certificate or degree to take home. with nothing to show, back to square one...fall back on low grades SPM cert.

This long series of tv drama should come to its end.

Also must report to edu ministry as to how these unrecognised degree holders were given permit pengajar by the ministry!!!

Well said sir..i hope a solid complain be made to the SPRM and edu ministry regarding the permit pengajar being issued to unrecognised indian degree holders.

these people still in cloud nine. govt recog is only for job appointment in govt sector only.

any private organisation can employ any people with any degree from any institution as they think fit. like TARC, for decades not recog by jpa. the grads were doing fine in the private sector, many are captains of industry and big shots.

Govt recog U is not an indicator of quality more often are politically motivated. so many top and better u in the 1st world countries are not recog yet u with no achievement in minor countries are recog.

ai yah go make police report, report to your papa AnHua, apek AKit and ustard Hardy bin Hudood.

Those LOSERS, the more you tried to bad mouth Aimst U, the more convinced we are that we have made the right choice. After all, we enjoy our study here, a beautiful campus with full sport facilities and relatively low costs of living. The good clinical training in nearby hospitals and a host of other favourable reasons. Those are more than what I expected.

Needless to say, we are going to graduate with an MMBS (AIMST U). Many envied and felt jealous. But what to do, you either have it or you don't. Curse all with your might, as much as you like, but such curses will rebound back to those evil people. Well, well, well, Best Wishes to all Aimsters, good and evil ones.

Do not wash okra. Wet pods become slimy and mold quickly. Refrigerate dry okra in perforated plastic bags. Use within a few days before the pods' ridges and tips start to turn darkStart eggplant seeds indoors about six weeks before your last spring frost, or about two weeks after tomatoes and peppers. Eggplant seeds germinate best at temperatures above 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Bottom heat is useful in getting the plants up and growing. Keep these members of the nightshade family growing under bright fluorescent lights for 14 to 16 hours each day, and transplant them to 4-inch containers when they have three leaves. Move plants outdoors on warm, sunny days, but bring them indoors when temperatures drop below 55 degrees. Set out hardened-off seedlings when they are about eight weeks old. When planning your garden, allow one plant per person, as a healthy plant will produce about 5 pounds of eggplant over two months or more. For more information on starting seeds indoors see Seed Starting Made Simple. To learn when to plant eggplant in your region seeWhat to Plant Now.

Because of the long growing season and hearty production, four or five plants usually produce enough okra for most families. More plants may be needed, though, to can or freeze okra for use during the winter.

While old seed pods cannot be eaten, they are perfect for dried flower arrangements.

hoose a sunny, well-drained site with fertile soil (pH between 5.5 and 6.5). To reduce pest problems, choose a spot where nightshade family members (eggplants, tomatoes, potatoes or peppers) have not been grown for at least two years. Two weeks before planting, loosen the planting bed and mix in a 2-inch layer of rich compost along with a standard application of balanced organic fertilizer or composted poultry manure and water well. In cool climates, cover the prepared bed with black plastic film to help warm the soil. Allow 24 inches between plants and plan ahead for stakes or other supports. In most regions you’ll need to cover newly transplanted eggplants with row covers to exclude flea beetles and other pests. Once plants are about 14 inches tall they are tough enough to fend for themselves and at this height you can remove covers to admit pollinators.

my parents plan to send me to aimst for med..mainly due to the fee..i told them i'd rather take moe matrix and try for gov u or go for something better like imu...soo...is aimst good?
the campus..food..lifestyle?

Anonymous said...

who said imu is better? better at milking your parents' money perhaps. the clinical school in kluang is held in a shop-house! but that is all up to you, if u are willing to pay more and don't mind being in deeper debts than others by the time you graduate. why bother about the cheap hostel foods when you only pay a pittance for foods and accommodation (u can always supplement your diet at the nearby chinese restaurants at smelling or sp).if you really want good foods, hostel and 1st class med schools, then go to UK or Aust-NZ or Singapore. Otherwise, all the local private u are can do-can do only. Your priority is local public u if you can make it there.

Anonymous said...

Your parents may have less academic knowledge, but are very WISE. Why pay more, over rm 100k extra for an Imu degree that does not give you any advantage over the other local degrees?

Whether it is good or not for a med school depends a lot on yourself. Your attitude towards learning and determination to succeed in life are more important. All the degrees (that are recognised by MMC) are only the basic entry point for career.

Be very careful with those degrees offers from the cheaper low grade universities in the 3rd world and Russia. You may end up struggling to catch up with others during housemen later.

Your parents are right, Aimst is a govt subsidised University, Imu is NOT! Therefore the fee in Aimst is lower. Nowadays, with so many med schools in the country for students to choose from, the quality of the students entering Imu has been significantly diluted than what used to be during the initial years.

Anyway, if your are a good scholar, you get to choose a university (NUS, Cambridge, Melbourne). Else the uni will choose you not the other way round. so, if you are like most ordinary students, please be grounded and count yourself lucky once chosen by a university.

Anonymous said...

I would like to know more about AIMST. Thinking of applying to AIMST for MSc in Biotechnology as an international student. I would like to know from AIMST current students about the quality of curriculum, teaching staff and educational facilities such as laboratories, library, computer access and INTERNET available there. How cooperative are the teaching staff in helping out their students. Some comments before suggested that administration is very bad. Is it improved now? How effective is the admission process for international students? God bless you all. God bless AIMST as well.

Anonymous said...

so sad, no one from the MSc group comes forward with an answer to your query. postgraduate programmes in Aimst are relatively new and student enrollment is small. Frankly, we don't now what to say. Basically, Aimst is very much focused on undergraduate courses in med, dentistry, pharm and other technical courses. maybe you should pay the faculty a visit and let us know your opinion.

Anonymous said...

Beware. PSC has frozen recruitment of civil servants with immediate effect (may 2015), including Pegawai Perubatan UD41 (HO).

If you have taken a huge loan of close to RM 0.5 million to study in IMU, you would regret it now! In deep debt, but without a job.

Those in Aimst U are better off with a smaller loan. There you are, now would you still say Imu is better?

Anonymous said...

i used to pass by the rolls of shop houses in kluang and pity at the sight of the imu clinical school in such a pathetic state. what facilities to talk about in that terrace shop lots. a 'world class' terrace shop university! compared to Aimst U campus, that school is like a budget motel.

Anonymous said...

why would anybody pay rm 0.5 million to check into a budget hotel- i mean a pricey med school with a budget hotel outfit? that is why I M not U.

Anonymous said...

At AIMST, even if you got the money, you still need to struggle and fight for a place in courses like Dentistry, Pharmacy and Medicine as there are so many foundation student and also STPM student applicant all over Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak, applying for the limited places available. Every year, there are so many AIMST foundation student from the few batches being kicked out from the University. That's why, there so many bad mouths in this blog. However, at IMU, if you got the money, just take up their Foundation course and you are already assured of a degree course waiting for you as there are not many who can afford that RM500K course. Even those that can afford that 500K, they would already fly overseas with so much choices available. So IMU is the best place to buy a degree if you have the money.

Anonymous said...

yes, well said and i totally agreed. but then if somebody has got no choice, then what to do? Imu also Imu lah, as long as got a seat. rm 0.5 million gone for sure and sweat it out in a terrace shop university. you can forget about swimming pool, gym, tennis courts, green fields, landscape, posh library and hostel foods. many academics are also hailed from neighboring countries and recycled lecturers from Aimst U and other u. i have to eat out daily at the nearby mamak shop at the other end of the terrace roll, purge after purge, but soon got immune to the dirty foods.

Anonymous said...

actually, imu students have to pay nearly rm 200k more than aimst students! with that kind of money i could buy a nice car and make a good down payment for a terrace house. that would be a good start in career. but what to do, it's too late to cry over sour milk. you guys in aimst are lucky.

earlier someone asked about engineering program in Aimst U and the reply was quite correct, except for the regulatory body being BEM instead of IEM. Here is the clarification from BEM published in the Star:

THE Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) would like to state that the views expressed by the secretary of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) in the article “Getting titles right in the engineering field” (The Star, May 15) are incorrect and misleading.

BEM is the regulatory body formed by an act of Parliament in 1967 to regulate the practice of engineering in Malaysia. BEM operates under the Registration of Engineers Act 1967 (REA 1967), which aims to protect and safeguard public interest and safety.

IEM is an institution registered under the Registrar of Society with no such regulatory powers.

BEM would like to state unequivocally that the use of the pre-nominal “Engr.” or any other word which may be construed to imply that an individual is a professional engineer is illegal and contravenes the REA 1967. BEM takes this matter very seriously and will take the necessary action against individuals who flagrantly disregard the law.

Section 7(1)(aa)(ii) of the Act states:

“No person shall, unless he is a Professional Engineer:

(a) take up employment which requires him to carry out or perform professional engineering services;

(aa) be entitled to describe himself or hold himself out under any name, style or title –

(i) bearing the words “Professional Engineer” or the equivalent thereto in any other language;

(ii) bearing any other word whatsoever in any language which may reasonably be construed to imply that he is a Professional Engineer; or

(iii) using the abbreviation “Ir.” before his name or the abbreviation “P.Eng.” after his name or in any way in association with his name.”

Based on the above, the usage of “Engr.” does not conform to the Act.

The secretary of the IEM reasoned that the usage of the title “Engr.” is merely for recognition and to honour IEM members who are not professional engineers. Such reasoning cannot be used as an excuse to contravene the Act.

The main purpose of using the title “Ir.” is to signify that the user of such a title is a professional engineer who is properly qualified and registered with BEM. No other titles such as “Engr.” can be used.

BEM’s objectives are to protect the public by ensuring that professional engineering services are provided by a professional engineer in a professional and competent way; maintain public confidence in the standard of services provided by professional engineers; and to uphold the standards of practice of professional engineers. The REA 1967 is not the only Act in this country which restricts the usage of a designated title. Others include the Legal Profession Act, Licensed Land Surveyors Act and Architects Act.

Under the Registration of Engineers (Amendment) Act 2015, which was gazetted on Feb 24, a graduate engineer registered with BEM is allowed to use the abbreviation “Grad.Eng.” after his name or in any way associated with his name.

do u all know that students in Inn Motel U (IMU)get very little lecture contact hours with the faculty. the U called it directed self-study!!! after spm then foundation, we are told to self-study, wonderfool. i wonder why we have to pay so much more then. why not some tuition discount for self-taught learning.

facilities wise, the main campus is a rented PORTION of a sport complex, clinical schools are in terrace shops. yes, terrace shops!!

some said perhaps rajesh holds a zoology degree, yet directing medic students (which is not true as rajesh got his recog. qualifications in MBBS , MBA and Doctorate Med. but surprisingly, a director in that Inn Motel U is indeed a veterinary degree holder with a DVM (UPM) qualification, but is leading or could be misguiding the medic students, surprise, surprise!!

AIMST University is truly a good medical university with good teaching facilities in a proper campus. The nearby teaching hospitals (A Star, B.M and S Petani) are only within an hour away from the campus. Unlike some U, the shop-lots clinical schools that are situated in the remote small towns with only a handful of specialists.

Self-learning for the first degree students? Sounds like a fraud, AUCMS in the making! Directed self-study is usually for research masters and PhD levels. Those students after completing their foundation level need maximum lecture contacts, not self-study, unless they are graduate students with a BSc degree.

Seriously, why pay rm500k, yes, rm0.5 million for a sub-standard university education? Somebody is getting super rich. Welcome to the rich man's world of motel medicine.

I strongly recommend AIMST University. A true university for medical studies.

I have no doubt the academicians in AIMST U are of quality and performing well judging from the following article/info:-

Research Publication Output by Private Medical Universities in Malaysia

The number of publication has been one of the measurement values in the performance evaluation for higher education academicians.

The number of journal articles published in SCOPUS database (2010) for private medical schools are as follows:

AIMST U (202), IMU (473), UCSI (72), MSU (25), UTAR (463).

The other private med schools have no record of SCORE publication (including MMMU, CUCMS etc).

Hey guys , I'm currently taking foundation in science in aimst , does aimst foundation accept by other universities? Please help me , I dunwan stuck in such bad uni

Anonymous said...

so what is so bad. is it b'cos you realised you have a slim chance to be selected for med, dental or pharm courses? try ucsi, mahsa and segi, as some aimst-rejects and ex-fs students got accepted there.

Anonymous said...

take the easier paths in russia, indon and egypt. would be better to re-visit your 'qualification'portfolio to find out if you are made out to be a medical student. Aimst is regarded as a best med school, at par with the other established med schools in the country. is your deficiencies frustrating you, think again: VANITY vs REALITY, good luck my friend.

Anonymous said...

Bad because it is getting tougher to get a place in the med degree even though if you are qualified as the foundation intake are getting more and more. Anyway thank you as I have already checked that QUEST Perak, UCSI, SEGI, MAHSA and even MSU did accept reject from AIMST University. At least I have some back up choices now I can concentrate in my foundation studies.

In short, if you guys complain so much. I dont think you all deserve to be a doctor or an AIMST product anyways. Getting a MBBS just a stepping stone for your medical career.

In general, all university are almost the same in terms of private university with the exception of IMU which I personally think their graduates have better quality control. This is because is swim or die over there. IMU is quite strict and filtering their students as the years goes by.

If i were you, spend more times on your books, rather than writing on blogs complaining about the university itself. I dont want to sound mean but if you guys were good and smart, you would have gotten scholarship from well known university like some of my fellow colleagues.

My advice, all university are the same, there wont be spoon feeding. Its up to you to read and pass your exams. If you cant adapt to such environment, Im pretty sure those who complain or feel gutted in AIMST, will not survive housemanship and the real clinical practice.

ex-AIMST graduate, currently working as a specialist. (P.S. current students, dont look down on your own university, its your pride of college years, this label will be with you for life, then make it famous and great with your forthcoming)

I agree fully that all AIMSTers must study hard and work hard as HOs to uphold the good name of the university. Let us wow to do our very best; one for all, all for one!

i thought imu is good, not anymore, after i met some of their students in seremban, b pahat and kluang hospitals. what a let down. wonder how the uni justifies such exorbitant fees with no proper campus and so sore facilities.

Anonymous said...

A lot of hidden costs in the IMU program which were not informed to their student initially normally emerge in the 3rd years and clinical years. This bring the actual total fees studying in IMU exceeding RM500K. Further more, the IMU's MBBS is just another local program like all other local universities if not worst.

i believe IMU is just a mediocre institution that has over blown its image. Only UM, UKM, USM and UPM are listed in the 2015/16 QS World Uni Ranking by subject- medicine. the others are way off the mark, nowhere appear in the ranking. any public medic school will stand a chance of being listed. Keep the RM500k and you are already a winner in whichever fee-competitive medic uni that you pick.

i mean any public medic school will stand a BETTER chance of being ranked in future, not IMU, as it don't even have a proper campus, let alone top facilities.

http://anonymous-opinions101.blogspot.my/

I was an international student who did my post graduate in AIMST (Asian Institute of Medicine, Science & Technology) Malaysia.

Previously, before I enrolled myself in AIMST, I came across many good feed-backs in the internet regarding AIMST. However, it is a real disappointment when I get enrolled in the University. These are actually what is happening in the Faculty of Medicine at AIMST University

Although we are post graduate students, we were treated as undergraduate students. Every day we are supposed to meet the Post Graduate Coordinator at 8am and 5pm just to sign our daily attendance. I thought as post graduate our time should be flexible and we should only report to our supervisor? How come it is the post graduate coordinator who is controlling everything?
I was assigned a supervisor when I first started my 1 year post graduate course, after 6 months doing my research, they told me that I can't continue my studies and assigned me to another supervisor to start another new studies. The post graduate coordinator then told me that I need to pay for another year fees if I can't finish my study in time. This is seriously not fair to me. Worst part is when I was busy about my studies, my supervisor still have the time to go for holidays.
When the post graduate students including me submitted any of our work to the post graduate coordinator, that lady will always said we were wrong and asked us to correct it no matter how we did the correction we were also wrong. The worst thing is she never gave us a procedure and protocol on how it is done. To make things uglier, she always said different things everyday. Today, this work might be correct while tomorrow it may be wrong.
Everything was last minute (they don't have our schedule planned). As an example, the meeting was planned tomorrow, they will either informed us either 1 day or few hours before the meeting. I remember once where one of my fellow colleague from other division just voice out to the post graduate coordinator regarding the last minute meeting (the meeting was actually scheduled on 8:30am but in that morning itself at about 1:30am the post graduate coordinator change the meeting time to 10:30am), it ended up he was at fault for voicing up and ended up apologizing to the post graduate coordinator. I had manage to talked to him, he also seems non satisfied. He told me:" If you want to stay in AIMST, just keep quiet and follow the flow, don't voice out. Although sometimes you want to voice out and help them to improve but, they just don't accept critiques and it ended up you are at wrong." He seems like already gave up regarding this. But I had to thank god that I had quit this university into a better university.
One of my fellow colleague from medical faculty also told me, when he asked to use the lab in the allied health faculty for his research, he went through the faculty of medicine and it took him almost a month but there was no news. The post graduate coordinator did nothing but just questioning him on have he started his research. He told me that he was so stress and was also pissed. Finally he went to through the allied health faculty with the help of his division and everything was done in 2 days. Seriously, there is lack of support from our faculty.
He also told me that it seems as though the post graduate coordinator is over work. So she should not be blame. The question is why AIMST keep dumping jobs and responsibilities to her. Is there no other staff who is capable to take over her place? That probably the reason the coordination of our post graduate course in the faculty of medicine is so inefficient. It also reflect on lack of professionalism.

Besides these there are also many other issues. Hence, before you enroll yourself, do reconsider.

you said so and i agreed fully. i would suggest the top 4 public u in malaysia for medic/health related studies- um, ukm, usm and upm. else, any public u would be better than those degree mills of private u. many so called 'international' private u are only out to make money. readers and prospective students need be more discerning.

Letter to DGHS - MoH
"Dear DG of Health,

We are writing in regards to a very distasteful experience we are having in AIMST UNIVERSITY, We have been cheated. This is the first time in history of AIMST University that 22 students failed in their final exam , the majority failed Pediatric& Medicine & Orthopedics.

The year 4 and 5 MBBS student have escalated the shortage of teaching staff to the Dean faculty of medicine Dr Rajesh and VC Ravichandran couple of times but till now no action been taken; the ISSUES are as follow:

Pediatric: Only ONE lecturer for the last 8 months and teaching for 660 students in 3 hospitals

ENT: ZERO for the last 10 months

Anesthesia: ZERO lecturer for the last 10 months

Radiology: ZERO lecturers for the last 8 months

A&E: ZERO lecturer for the last 8 months

Medicine: only ONE lecturer left

Base on the MMC guideline, for each unit there must be at least 6 lecturers for the 1,050 students in AIMST University. How do you expect us to learn, we paid the fees in full but NO teaching, especially small group teaching in the hospital. Regret to say, we have a Non-responsive VC who always claims that he is instructed by the Chairman not to hire new faculty, he only takes care of the Board of Director, especially Tan Sri Marimuthu.

Yesterday we heard from Alor Setar hospital authority that they will not allow AIMST students to enter the wards for bedside teaching in TWO weeks as we don’t have our lecturer to accompany us. Please come in to help us from this dilemma, we call the VC for a discussion last week but he refused to meet us. We have paid the fees RM250,000.00

Another serious matter; we are now asked to pay RM50,000 for repeating one more year, is that our fault. Now we request the University to compensate us for our repeat of Year 5 as this was absolutely due to lack of teaching staff to guide us in our clinical. We also request that the university compensate our meal and lodging in Alor Setar for the additional one more year.

This is a serious matter, and we are prepared to go to the media if we don’t get an answer within a week either from MMC or the university Chairman Dato Seri SamyVellu.

Also one of the BOD's (Dato Venkatramanan) daughter is studying in AIMST and don't know why he is keeping quiet.

Thank you.
Year 5 MBBS students.

hey dude, get the student union or class rep to write a proper letter to the Ministry of Ed. and MQA cc to MOH, DGHMS, MMC and all the mainstream media (if you like). be prepared for media conference, if you are going to arrange one. for those who failed, it's hard to argue that you are being victimised. the authorities may looked at the shortage of faculty and students failure as 2 separate issues. good luck guys, never take on the power that be alone, you only let yourself be a sacrificial lamb, NOT a hero.

Anonymous said...

shortage of faculty and medic-students failure rate may not be correlated. students need self-initiative and be competitive to stay above a cutting-line. it's good that aimst is failing students to maintain students quality. all medic-universities should have rulings that the bottom 10-20% in the class need to repeat and habitual failures be dismissed or credit transferred to other related courses (such as bio-med,bio-sc, human-bio, nursing, nutrition/dietetic-sc etc).

AIMST is not suitable place to get quality degree. Many complaints addressed to MQA but political support barred any actions. Those parents aspired to send children to this AIMST must sacrifice the quality of their child. I assure you that they cant compete with well known Malaysia University Graduates (such as Taylor, HELP, Segi, UCSI etc). But you do not have choice then go to AIMST and make your child dump. They running this university 'Kucing Kurap' style. Even VC not produced any academic articles or known in international arena. There are many staff with bogus degrees (Cannaught University, Chicago University (fake)...even they have nick name dupe K.

Anonymous said...

nay.. you are the one that is kuching kurap. AIMST is way ahead of those private Unis that you have proposed. Aimst grads are well accepted by MOH. Your complaints to MQA were not heeded it's because you are childish, petty matters need no attention, but spanking. Go quit AIMST, you don't deserve to be a student there. Perhaps you are a reject or had failed, feeling bitter seeking for revenge. What a sour grape, shame on you.

Anonymous said...

so true, failed in foundation and making nonsense and a fool of himself. Yes, shame on you!!! GO seek psychiatrists help.

Anonymous said...

Huh good to know that AIMST has strong political support or connections that agencies such as MQA has given much 'face'or respect to Aimst! In fact this should be an envy for other institutions that have spent huge amount of resources in trying to up in the PR games but still trailing Aimst. Seriously, AIMST is good for MBBS, BDS and Pharmacy. As for the others programs one is spoilt with choices. However, in accounting or business always consider TARUC, which is well known for its professional accounting programs, accounting and business degrees. Industrial players that are worth their salt love to have TARUC grads in their team line up. There you got it, this is factual and a credible public perception.

A POEM FOR UCSI (written by cy)

UCSI is used to called Uk-Si,(Oh-Si)
I join Uk-Si because its nearly,
Its used to be a good uni,
Filled with peace and harmony,
Until here come all the blacky.

When talk about the blacky,
They come not to study,
But find chinese for fucki,
Say “Ni hao Ma”(how r u) to leng lui,
You will fell so geli.

The blacky at Uk-Si,
They are so smelly,
Every time go class I feel like mati,
Especially when they sit beside me.

Uk-Si blacky hidung are so tinggi,
Always drive car like crazy,
Walk in the middle of road like babi,
At night drink beer sampai nak mati,
Then shout at condo like nobody.

A Uk-Si gal rape by blacky,
Uk-Si cover it with money,
The gal suffer for life, so pity,
The blacky get away with Uk-Si money.

Uk-Si is all about money, money and money,
Price increase like crazy,
Obtain status as uni,
But facility like sekolah anak babi.

Uk-Si café expensive like crazy,
One sandwich for 3 something,
WOW!! It is so costly,
But the food never be tasty.

Uk-Si proud new campus for engineering,
Please don’t be so happy,
Because it is a cage for blacky,
And hard to find a pretty chicky,
Seeing Uk-Si black chicky,
Swimming at pool with bikini,
My eye’s sakit sampai nak mati.
Uk-Si only got one library,
Two campus need to share one library,
Make student run here and there like monkey,
The book always gone when exam is nearly,
If want a book please go rampas like aunty.

Uk-Si new computer lab is so nicely,
Filled with Core 2 Duo from HP,
But later all the mouse kena curi,
It is all done by the blacky,
So becareful when u bring notebook or lappy,
Because? You know la the “BLACKY”

Uk-Si com lab is just like UTAR,
Pen drive masuk lubang sure got baby,
Pregnant with all the trojan, worm and cookies,
Because the anti-virus are so lousy.

Uk-Si parking is so limit,
Student parking is cost two ringgit,
Yet still need go up to the hill,
Uk-Si Staff parking is FOC,
But still got reserve by the security.

Uk-Si fees is so costly,
Yet, student do event still need ask others for money,
People say Uk-Si so rich why still for money,
So, where goes all our money,
I believe Peter Ng sudah masuk pocket.

Uk-Si is always wrap nicely with advert,
But inside is always empty,
So, never believe Uk-Si nice advert,
Because it is actually wrap with your money.

And lastly, Never Come Uk-Si!!!

AIMST U is among the best private medic schools in Malaysia. I LOVE AIMST U. If you can get in, why pay more that only burden you with rm500k debt upon graduation and yet without a job. Glut of medic grads is real and is happening now. Hello...wake up.

Anonymous said...

As a student, I fully attest my agreement that AIMST U is among the best medical school in Malaysia.

I wonder when will that SUCKERS ever going to admit defeat. I know he failed in foundation science and ended up in another private college, graduated with a basic degree which is quite worthless, as his job being a salesman don't require such paper qualification anyway.

SUCKERS, hey you, please declare your defeat and surrender to your fate.

Anonymous said...

SUCKER is in hiding. A mess he created for himself, expecting a hand-out certificate though he failed.

AIMST U is the best. thanks for the cheapest fee among the private medic schools and top quality teaching and learning environment.

A big Thank You to AIMST U.

Anonymous said...

Pharm, Medic, Dentist grads are all facing employment issue or rather unemployment. Don't waste over rm 1 million on such a programme (or twinning)in UK US AuNz. On return, you need to look (beg) for a job. Then, you will have to work your whole life to repay the loan or to recover the tuition fees, let alone the interest charged on the amount spent (could double the principal amount every 10 years or so).

Yes, Yes and YES, thank you AIMST University for the opportunity to earn such a degree (BPharm, BDS, MBBS)for a reasonable fee.

Anonymous said...

At last...finally, many have come to their senses. I have no regret to be in Aimst U.

I really enjoyed my study here. MBBS tuition of Aimst is not cheap, but it's the cheapest among the established local private med schools. Learning-Teaching and clinical training are of the top notch quality, no complain for me.

As long as one is smart i.e. with good pre-U grades, willing to learn, comes with the right attitude or mind set; then, AIMST is a good place, and even excellent for you to excel in fulfilling your ambition and aspiration to be a good doctor.

LOVE Aimst U.

i read in The Star today about a student from a poor family lamenting about his opportunity to do medicine. despite of the fact he is well aware that med in a private U is expensive he can ill afford, yet he is willing to borrow from PTPTN and other sources, he even shamed his relatives for refusing to be his guarantor for the loans.

I say this, he is naive, childish, lack of maturity in logical thinking. He should aim for a seat in a public U for med. else, choose any other course in a public U which his family can afford, graduate, earn a living and be a successful person to get free from his poverty grip.

Taking a huge loan for med in a private U is a big BIG mistake. Surely that will trap him in the poverty grid forever. His relatives are very wise in not getting involve in his mad dream.

There are many ways to be successful, not limiting oneself to only medicine. He should analyse his own self, why MUST it be medicine only. being "noble"?? how about humanity fields, food and agriculture, laboratory sciences, architecture, engineering, environmental sciences, bio-zoology-wildlife, business, accountancy etc etc etc.

Anonymous said...

be an accountant, work full time in a company and continue take home contract jobs-accounting/book keeping (from other SMEs)to work at home, work extra time (on call) like an MO or HO. in no time you will get rich, a lot faster than a doctor and without having to repay the huge study loans. tuition for accountancy is only a TINY fraction of medic tuition.

Pirate said...

I sing praises to AIMST for the reasonable tuition in MBBS, BDS and BPharm. Why pay over half a million RM and yet the earning power of doctors is no better than any other govt officers with a difference of less than RM100 p.m.

For a PTPTN loan of RM150K, the monthly repayment is close to RM1000 pm over 20 years long. That is almost a third of the monthly basic pay of HO/MO (RM2,700 only). If one were to borrow the remainder RM200k to finance his study that would be another RM1000 monthly repayment for over 20 years.

Only blinds would do medicine and be debtors for life. Many talk about medicine as a choice of passion. Actually, it's a choice of misinformed illusion.

Bomoh 1 Malaysia said...

Passion or Illusion?

It's misinformed illusion, if you were to pursue medicine without first knowing what's in the other fields.

Anonymous said...

Passion?? In fact it's about earning a living, CARI MAKAN only. as such, if you can't afford in studying medicine, work very hard in school to excel and join a public uni for 'free tuition'.

i too have a passion for fast-speedy sport cars- like posche, ferrari, lumbo and merce. Since I can't afford any of those, I am pragmatic to drive a common car and keep my passion only as a dream. I hold no hatred nor envy against those who can afford them. Yet, I can still admire those beauties, luxury sport cars.

Medicine degree is for those who can afford it. It's a fact. If you are poor, go away, make way for others and study whatever degree of your second or third choice. Nobody owes you a life, go get your own.

AIMST UNIVERSITY offers excellent opportunity for study in MBBS. however, it should take in more A-Level and STPM holders and less SPM holders via the foundation route. It's time for the U to tighten further its entry requirements. after all Malaysia is now flooded with SPM holders, just skim only the very best from them.

AIMST should also charge higher fees to employ better academic and clinical staff.

AIMST Grad said...

after graduating from AIMST U and worked for several years, I came to realised student's life in AIMST U back then was not bad at all.

The hostel accommodation and foods were really cheap, comparable to a public u. Many of us incl I at that time were expecting too much, stately meals, which were unrealistic, taking into account the tiny fees we paid for foods and hostel.

In my work I came across many trainees form other U far worse prepared than many of my course mates. Admittedly, there were also many talented ones too. The things is that AIMST U is a good place to learn and I had good clinical experience or exposure that made my HO training so easy (but tiring).

Those of us who were really interested in medicine (esp A-level, STPM and top scorers)were very motivated to learn. On the other hand, some were taking things a little too easy, skipped classes and never stopped blaming the lecturers. Now I can say, those lazy students should not do medicine in the first place.

Overall, Aimst U is good for medicine as I had been through and completed my HO with much confidence.

AIMST Grad said...

just to add a bit more. HO life is very tiring. at times i wish for a little more time for a nap. it seems a sleep is a such a luxury, i wish to have more of it.

I have completed my HOs without a clidge. Thanks to Aimst U, a good uni to study MBBS.

Don't be fooled by some jealous guys (with ill-intent) who are not even students there. if you are a prospective student (or parents), go, enrol yourself in Aimst U, you will never regret it.

all of us who are now MOs (and specialists) are proud of Aimst U as our alma mater.

to you all, who are still students there, keep up the good work and be proud of Aimst U as your alma mater.

aimst u is the best for MBBS. It has a beautiful full campus with well equipped teaching facilities, sports facilities, extensive green fields, ample parking lots and comfortable 3-room hostel apartments. Aimst U also has the best clinical training collaboration with the many nearby hospitals.

nearby Sg Petani is a nice commercial hub to chill out during weekends.

On top of these, the tuition fees are comparatively cheaper than other private medical schools where most are housed in abandon shop lots or creepy old commercial complexes.

am now a specialist and still proud of my alma matta.

A Big thank you to AIMST U.

do you still have doubts on MBBS AIMST? Doubt no more... Here's my story. I passed the MBBS AIMST (year? let that be confidential) and went through housemanship in 2 years, by then I had passed the MRCP Stage 1 exams. I completed all the remaining stages (Stage 2 and PACES exams) in just 2 years all in a single attempt (normally, most candidates would take 4 t0 5 years, many couldn't make it through even after numerous attempts, including graduates from pricy universities!).

There you have it. with only an MBBS AIMST and I passed the MRCP(UK) with high scores. Don't worry about what those negative preachers say. You, yourself could make the difference. Be ready to learn and have a right working attitude as a professional is a key to be a clinical specialist in medicine.

Best wishes to all in AIMST and to those prospective students.

I often read in some media forum that the MRCP(UK) postgrad qualification does not make one a specialist or alluding to something like that.

Well, I said those people are sour grapes and can’t accept facts that the MRCP(UK) is a pre-requisite qualification to be a specialist (in Int Med). The postgrad qualification carries the weight that a holder has the advance knowledge beyond the MBBS level and the required skills for further skill-training (as a registrar or residence) to become a specialist.

Likewise, the MBBS degree is a pre-requisite paper qualification to become a general medical practitioner (doctor) that a recognised medical degree means one has the knowledge and basic skills for further skill-training (as Housemen) to become a doctor.

So, if you are good (IQ, EQ, attitude and aptitude) but graduated from a so-called “mediocre” medic-school, fret not, as one can still go far to acquire advance knowledge in paper qualification- like the MRCP(UK), and then go on with the advance skill-training to become a specialist. One need NOT go broke to enrol in a pricy (overpriced) medic school to become a doctor or specialist.

The saying goes, “it’s difficult to hold a good man down”, it’s so true. It’s YOU that makes the difference which counts.

I am still a humble doctor with MBBS (Aimst U), MRCP(UK) and walking tall, feeling very comfortable practising in the midst of other doctors, but still looking forward to opportunities to further my knowledge and skills, all merely for the good of mankind.

Like to add a piece of my thought to this blog. I came across some comments in the Lowyat forum by one particular senior doctor or a senior member of that forum who said (alluded to) the situation of "Glut of Doctors" one should opt for a medic-school in the !st world country. How SILLY of him- on two counts and besides other factors.

One, a 1st world medical program could easily cost well over RM1.5m (including costs of living etc). Whereas a local program fees is only a small tiny fraction of that. Meaning, a big saving of say, RM1 million. Now put that saving into investments, say buy a property or equities and start earning rental incomes, capital appreciation or dividends. By the time you graduate and complete the HO training, the initial capital (saving) could double its amount and continue to snowball into a fortune. Both the local and 1st world trained doctors earn the same amount of salary, but the actual-income difference is obvious. The local trained is the WINNER.

Two, many doctors have the wrong impression that 1st world medic-programs command prestige and respect, which is self-delusion. The many doctors that have "big names" of their 1st world medic-schools are struggling to survive in housemanship (as others too) and then compete like any other doctors for jobs.

ENDOWMENT. There is one key factor that would make a difference- PERSONALITY. If one is endowed with a like-able personality, such as good-look, pleasant-kind demeanor and tall(above average), it would be easier to establish trust and long-term doctor-patients relationship for a sustainable and successful practice as compared to a "crook-looking" doctor despite of the background of the 1st world medic-qualification.

MOBILITY. It is a delusion that 1st world qualifications afford "international recognition" and thus, mobility. The reality is that a vast majority of those having such qualifications are stuck locally, negating such a notion of global mobility. On the contrary, a local graduates could take a 1st world postgrad Membership or Fellowship to stand on par or above that of a 1st world trained undergrad doctor. Thus local qualified doctors too can enjoy the same potential of global recognition and mobility.

In short, facing with the situation of "glut of doctors" one should be cost-sensitive in choosing a medic-program, NOT to based on emotion and have a false self-imagery of prestige and recognition. Besides, match your want with your endowment too, be realistically pragmatic with your ego, life and ambition.

this is now year 2023. All that I have read or came to know about AIMST is good news and achievements by the alma. The entry selection for MBBS is still remained stringent and tough with over 600 students competing for a limited number of seats of less than 200. If you are selected then well done, otherwise hard luck guys. From a happy and proud alma of Aimst.

Admittance rate in Aimst for MBBS&BDS(200seats) should be about 30+%, taking into account the number of foundation students (600seats) and a small number of seats reserved for STPM and A-level holders. Take note also there is an increasing number of student intakes for foreign nationals.

Such an admittance rate in Aimst is not that different from the public universities (all courses) which ranges from 20% in UMK to 34% in UM with the exception of 100% admittance rate for UiTM (source: Edurank.org). Whereas the admittance rate of all courses for private universities are much higher, about 60 to 90%.

Even during these challenging times where medic graduates are facing uncertainty in employment, the demand and competition for admittance into MBBS&BDS courses in Aimst remained stiff. So, congratulations to those who have succeeded in muscling your way into MBBS&BDS Aimst.

If you happened to come to this site and still doubtful of Aimst, I say rest assured that Aimst is a good university to study medicine. I am a proud alma of Aimst.

A quick search on Linkedin or google, you will notice that some ex-grads of Aimst have already achieved international standards with post-nominal letters such as: FRCP, FACP, AAAM(US). FAMS, FCCP, MRCP, MRCOG, MRCPCH, SCE(speciality), EECC, MPH, DrPH, MMed, Founder/CEO, etc.

These letters of accomplishments indicate that Aimst has already come of age. That many of its graduates have advanced from the basic degree level of MBBS to post-graduate specialties of internationally acclaimed for medicine and surgery.

Good to note that Aimst has come of age as an established medical school in Malaysia. I am looking forward to the University and Student Council to jointly publish in its official site a page to highlight its ex-graduates in two categories namely, NOTEABLE ALMA MATER and EMINENT ALMA MATER.

It's up to the University and Student Council to decide on the criteria, but in my opinion those alma who have progressed to post-graduate medical specialist levels such as MRCP and MMed should be honoured in the Notable Alma Mater category. While those who have achieved Fellowship and medical consultant status be awarded in the Eminent Alma Mater.

The University and Student Council should take the initiative to liaise with ex-graduates. That an honouring ceremony can be briefly held together and during the annual Graduation Ceremony. The Alma concerned will be invited to present but can be substituted by simple announcement of their absentia.

I believe such a ceremony will inspire Aimsters, prospective students and their parents. This is an effective and valuable publicity stunt that will not cost much to host.

Bravo to all Aimsters, alma mater and the University.
